The Via Verdi – The Rail Trail

Hugging the river Serpis as it tumbles out of El Raco del Duc. The railway was built in the 19th century by the British to bring coal from the port of Gandia to Alcoy, to fuel the textile industry. The railway closed in 1969; it runs past the house.
All we are left with now is the 13km trail, and the five tunnels, the amazing scenery on the way to Lorcha. It's perfectly flat and is suitable for walkers and cyclists of all abilities.
If you want to explore this breathtaking landscape further, we have 8 bicycles for hire and there is also a riding stable nearby!
It is also possible to go on a 'safari' with our guide Ian, who is bilingual (Safori Enterprises). His original Land Rover can carry up to eight passengers.
